A simple method for gererating traffic and building your social media guru reputation.
As a budding social media expert, you're already keeping a close eye on Twitter and the rest, right? In fact, you truly believe that playing around on social media all day is an actual job.
So, your first step is to keep on top of trending topics. When the internets start picking on an individual, organisation, brand or nation, get ready for action.
Watch the story develop for an hour or so. When you're ready, throw together a short, self-satisfied blog post. Aim for around 200 words and make 'em smug! Use the benefit of hindsight to point out a couple of fundamental social media mistakes. For best effect, use a title like: "Where [subject] went wrong: 5 Social Media Mistakes". Make sure your conclusion is that the biggest mistake was to "misunderstand" Twitter/Facebook/The Web/Whatever.
Publish your blog post, then tweet a link to it. Use the hashtag that's been trending throughout the story.
Your first social media guru post is done! And you now have some eminently reusable "content" at your fingertips. Change a few names, then roll it out each time someone makes a social media misstep.
